Fat Tuesday Pancake Supper

Delta Delta Delta held their annual Pancake Supper on Fat Tuesday this past month. The annual dinner is their fundraising event for their national philanthropy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospitals. If you found yourself at the Tri Delta house on Fat Tuesday, you enjoyed all you could eat pancakes with delicious toppings and live music from Bridges, a local Athens band. There was also a pancake eating contest where contestants had to eat a stack of pancakes without using their hands. Overall the Pancake Supper was a huge success in fundraising for St Jude. The Tri Delta sisters were surprised at chapter the following Monday when the Merlings, a family who received treatment for one of their children from St Jude, came and spoke to them. The parents and four children all shared their story and thanked the girls for all of their hard work--a very touching and emotional experience for many of the Tri Delta sisters. The girls loved being able to see the effect that all of their hard work has on the patients at St. Jude. There is a building at St. Jude in Memphis that is called Tri Delta Place and it is where the families get to stay during their time at St. Jude. The girls were able to see pictures of families enjoying Tri Delta Place and saw that their fundraising was not only going to helping the patients, but also the families of the children being treated. Tri Delta is starting their letter writing campaign this March to try and fundraise even more to help the children and families at St. Jude.
