With Hart and Soul
The Panhellenic Council’s Programming Committee was responsible for organizing New Member Day, which took place on September 18th. The group began planning this event last spring and immediately knew they wanted to get Dr. Lori Hart to speak on our campus to over 1,000 new sorority members. Dr. Hart is engaging and hilarious, but most of all, she is inspiring. Dr. Hart is a graduate of Auburn University and currently resides in Atlanta. In addition to her being such a joy to hear speak, she is also relatable because of her understanding the many facets of such a large Greek Life community. The Programming Committee had so much fun putting this event together, from ordering over 1,000 Insomnia cookies to Tate Grand Hall, to raffling off 10 gift baskets filled with items from local Athens businesses, with the help of Cheeky Peach Boutique. Since this day takes place only a month after Bid Day, Dr. Hart’s words on empowerment and educated decision-making within UGA's Greek organizations was the perfect message for the New Members to hear. Overall, the Programming Committee is so incredibly happy with the way this event turned out, and they hope each girl took something meaningful away from the day. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for New Member Day next year!
