A New Take on the Tailgate
There are few things any true Athenian loves more than a good old fashioned English Bulldog. Combine that with a tailgate filled with food and a perfect view of SEC Nation, and you’ve got the perfect Saturday in Athens! This is exactly what happened during Delta Phi Epsilon’s tailgate for the Georgia English Bulldog Rescue, and it couldn’t have been more of a success.
Each ticket Delta Phi Epsilon sisters sold let the public partake in food, a puppy kissing booth, and a chance to relax and play with the bulldogs frolicking around the tent. Families passing through Myers Quad also got a chance to play with the pups by giving a small donation to the rescue, which also helped GEBR raise the awareness it needs. The tailgate was even featured on SEC Nation, who happened to be there covering the UGA vs. Tennessee game and filmed a segment on the philanthropy event.
The Psi chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon decided to partner with this philanthropy not only for the organizations obvious connection to UGA, but to support an organization in real need of awareness and financial support. The Georgia English Bulldog Rescue’s mission is to care for and love precious pups until they find their forever family, and also educate the public on how to properly take care of this special breed. Because all funding of care and treatment for the animals is donation based, fundraising in new and innovative ways is always a priority.
