Most Magical Place on Earth

Avalon, who will serve UGA Panhellenic as a Gamma Chi during 2017 Formal Recruitment, is a Biological Engineering student with an Environmental Emphasis. This semester a crazy thing happened to Avalon; she landed her dream internship at Disney! She's spent the past three months eating an unlimited supply of Mickey bars, riding Space Mountain until she's dizzy and working for the Mouse.

Avalon is what Disney calls a Professional Engineering Intern, and she works in the Environmental Programs department at Walt Disney World in Orlando. Her department focuses on funding large scale "green" projects within Disney Parks and Resorts. She currently working on retrofitting existing lighting to LED in Disney hotels, such as the Grand Floridian, and adjusting the operating hours of water features in Magic Kingdom and Epcot to reduce water usage. Avalon spends about half of her day in the office and the other half in the parks and resorts, which makes her work day a perfect balance. The Walt Disney Company is quite large, but there is a strong focus on making every employee feel valued. Avalon says, "Being part of the team that creates magic for each guest that steps through our gates has been incredible. I have been going to Disney with my family for as long as I can remember and I never imagined I would be here for my dream internship." She will continue to soak up every moment here in her Disney bubble, and she is beyond excited to return to the Most Magical College Town on Earth in August as a Gamma Chi!
