Hoppy Days

On April 2, Kappa Alpha Theta hosted an Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn of our house! Interestingly, this used to be a long-standing tradition of the chapter. It had not happened in over twenty years, but the Thetas decided to bring it back due to its popularity in the past and excellent opportunity to engage alumnae as well as the local community.

Kappa Alpha Theta invited alumnae, volunteers and staff from their philanthropy, Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), as well as some additional local families and friends. Theta members spent the afternoon helping the kids search around the lawn, play egg relay races and dye eggs. They also enjoyed delicious treats from the local favorite, Nedza’s Waffles, and the line quickly wrapped around the side of the porch.

In an effort to also incorporate CASA, Theta hosted an internal competition to boost member involvement and raise some money towards the amazing cause, which benefits children in the local foster care system. The member class that raised the most money for CASA had the privilege of nominating a member to wear the bunny suit during the hunt. In the spirit of their last parting Theta event, the seniors rallied and sent one of their own to suit up, even in the hot sun. They quickly learned that this was the true highlight of the afternoon. At the end of the day, members and families alike left with a lot of treats, some slight sunburns and great memories from an amazing tradition that Kappa Alpha Theta hopes to continue!
