Low Country Boil
On October 17th, Delta Gamma hosted their annual fall philanthropy event, Low Country Boil. This event is held on Delta Gamma’s front lawn and features a classic style Low Country Boil with shrimp, corn, and sausage. The amazing, Connor Brooke, made an appearance and if you were lucky enough you may have even got the chance to take pictures with Hairy Dawg.
The proceeds from this event directly benefit the Athens Timberwolves. The Athens Timberwolves are a local beep baseball team. Beep baseball is the equivalent of America’s favorite pastime for the blind or visually impaired. Over the past two years, they have sent the team to the Beep Baseball World Series in Florida and they hope to continue the tradition again this year! Beyond sending the Timberwolves and their volunteers to the Beep Baseball World Series, the rest of the proceeds will go towards Delta Gamma Foundation. Service for Sight serve as their national philanthropy and sisters across the nation fundraise and volunteer their time to assist those who are blind or visually impaired.
Overall, the event was very successful. Many people attended, including the Timberwolves. This event that Delta Gamma puts on every year is just one example of many events that Panhellenic women hold to give back to the community. Panhellenic is very proud to give back to others and to help in a collective effort to make the world a better place.
