A Love for JPan

After being a student at Georgia for no less than three weeks, I could not have imagined how happy I would be now, looking back at my decision to apply to be a Junior Panhellenic Representative for my sorority. In high school, I held a number of leadership positions, so when the opportunity to apply for this position presented itself, my reaction was: “Why not?”
Now that I have been on the committee for several months, I could not be happier that I made that decision. As a member of the Junior Panhellenic Committee (JPC), I have not only had the opportunity to meet different girls from all the different sororities on campus, I have also been given the unique opportunity as a freshman to hold a leadership role representing my specific sorority. It has also given me a brief look into the future and which positions I could potentially hold in my upcoming future in the Greek Community.
Another cool part of Junior Panhellenic is that we split into different groups such as service, programming, and communications committees, in which we get to use our own individual skills to benefit the group as a whole and outreach in ways that complement our skill sets. For example, as an intended Advertising Major in the Grady College of Journalism, I have participated in the communications committee and have been able to use similar skills to help improve the Junior Panhellenic Instagram as well as other greek social media platforms. Overall, it has been a great experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in potentially holding any type of leadership position within their sorority throughout their four years here at UGA!
