...and we have a winner!

One of AOII’s seniors, Holly Haynes, received an incredible honor just last week. Ever since the 1960s, The University of Georgia has administered a beauty competition to allow Georgia ladies with all different talents and backgrounds the opportunity to compete. And this year, Miss Holly Haynes took home the crown! Holly first got her feet wet in the 2016 Miss UGA pageant. Although she didn’t place that year, she felt inspired to not give up and to continue pursuing her dreams in the pageant world. Her ambition and drive propelled her towards success as she soon found herself in the top fifteen at Miss Georgia and the next year in the top ten! With all the hard work she had put forth, Holly decided she would give Miss UGA one last chance for her senior year. Holly shared, “and if it’s not meant to be, then I had peace with it and God’s plan.” Sure enough, by the end of the night Holly had been crowned as Miss UGA 2018. “When they called my name as Miss UGA 2018, I nearly cried onstage because, not only is this a huge honor for me, it’s been a metaphor for my growth in this organization, as a young woman, and the person I always strive to be. In that moment, I suddenly became a forever Miss University of Georgia: a title that girls, including me, dream of having.” Holly is so excited to serve her

dawgs and promote her platform “Girl EmPOWER” as she finishes out her last semester here at The University of Georgia. Alpha Omicron Pi is so proud of her and the way she represents her sorority and her school. Go Holly and GO DAWGS!!!
