What To Read During Quarantine
I’m usually not a big time reader, however the boredom of quarantine has finally reached its peak and I have decided to start picking up some books! Here are just a few that I’ve read lately and some places to find some good suggestions.
Tattoos on the Heart by Greg Boyle ~ This book is about a preacher who starts up “Homeboy Industries” and works in the middle of LA’s most prominent gang neighborhood in order to help many of these people get back on their feet. His inspiring stories help you see goodness and a little bit of hope more clearly during these pressing times.
The Help by Katherine Stockett ~ One of my favorite books of all times, Katherine Stockett writes from the perspective of an aspiring writer growing up in the 1960s in Mississippi. She tells a range of stories that make you both laugh and cry from maids throughout Mississippi throughout the 60s.
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover ~ A quick read for someone in the romance mood. Colleen Hoover writes about a girl who moves into a new apartment and quickly falls for her roommate, but there’s a few things she has to learn about him first and that he needs to sort out before they could ever work.
The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern ~ This is hands down my favorite book ever and in my opinion the most creative and magical book ever written. The Night Circus tells a story of a traveling circus that, if you can believe it, only comes at night and only visits each city once and only once. The book follows the characters in the circus, how they got there and their life stories. Erin’s writing makes you feel like you are right in the center of it all and I guarantee you won’t be able to put it down.
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens ~ This book is so well written and detailed you will feel like you are right in the middle of everything that is happening. A story about the life of a “swamp girl” named Kya who lives in a small, coastal town and what happens to her when she is the prime suspect in a muder trial.
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware ~ You will not be able to put this book down with all the twists and turns that are thrown your direction. It’s a captivating mystery novel that follows a travel journalist as she is given an opportunity to go and write about a luxury cruise. But when she sees something she’s not supposed to, her trip is not as luxurious as she thought it would be.
There are plenty more good reads that you can find during quarantine! I have found a lot of my favorites from Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club, just look it up on Google and a bunch of options will appear! Asking friends for recommendations is always a good way to go and there are a ton of Instagram accounts that do book recommendations too! Coming from someone who was never a big reader, I have found this is one of the best ways to pass your time during quarantine.
