Let's Grab Brunch: Athens Favorites
The weather is getting warmer so you know what that means...brunch, of course! Marion Kronauge shares some of Phi Mu’s favorite spots to grab brunch in Athens:
Athens has some of the best restaurants for a college town, especially for brunch. After talking to a bunch of my friends we compiled a list of the best brunch restaurants in town and our favorite thing from their brunch menu!
Number one was a crowd-wide consensus that Five has the best brunch spot, not only food-wise but with their atmosphere as well. Their breakfast burrito is something you can’t get anywhere else, as is their chicken and waffles. Ask just about anyone and I think that Five would be their number one go-to.
Our next favorite spot is J. Christopher’s. While it isn’t local to Athens, their chocolate chip pancakes and skillet options are perfect for a Sunday morning to get your day started. Whenever you have family in town or a larger party, J. Christopher’s is the perfect spot. It also is super close to Milledge and a lot of times we will all walk over there!
Next, we have Ideal Bagel which is right down the road from Milledge and another great walk. This place is packed on Sunday mornings so make sure to get there early, but their Cadillac breakfast sandwich and lox bagel are so worth it. This is more of a grab-and-go type of brunch, but just as good as a sit-down.
Looking for a biscuit? Definitely make your way to Farmcart. Their homemade biscuits piled on with cheese, eggs, bacon or sausage are a great way to start your morning. This is another great spot to take parents or families when they come into town. Farmcart also has a great outdoor patio for pretty spring mornings!
Lastly, Heirloom seems to be a hidden treasure within Athens. Like Farmcart, they have a great outdoor patio, and the best part is you can bring your dog! Their doscuit holes are topped with cinnamon sugar and salted caramel are one of a kind. Another crowd favorite from here is the omelet, a morning meal you can never go wrong with.
These are just some of our favorite breakfast spots but there are many more to try located all around Athens!
