Top 10 Things to Do in Athens This Summer

Summer is finally here and everyone is deserving of a break from late-night studying and hours spent in class. If you’re staying in Athens for the summer or find yourself in the Classic City for a day, here are some of Panhellenic’s top 10 favorite things to do in Athens!

1. Eat outside at some amazing Athens restaurants and enjoy the beautiful weather with great atmospheres. Some of Panhell’s favorites are the Last Resort, Paloma Park, and Seabear Oyster Bar!

2. More of a morning person? Athens has the yummiest brunch and breakfast restaurants that are sure to start your day on the best note. Mama’s Boy and Big City Bread are Athens classics if you ask us! If you’re vegetarian, you must check out The Grit for brunch and we cannot recommend it enough.

3. Pick up some new goodies at the Athens Farmers Market! There are tons of vendors selling things from fresh produce and baked goods to homemade jewelry and beautiful creations. The Athens Farmers Market has something for everyone and a must to check out this summer.

4. While the weather is warm and nature looks beautiful, Panhellenic loves to get outside and enjoy the beauty of Athens. Want to explore nature? Bear Hollow Zoo has a huge wildlife trail and you can find and learn about many local animals that reside here.

5. If summer inspires you to change up your style, look no further than the Classic City that offers the best shopping! Grab your friends and take a walk through the streets of Athens to go shopping and find the cutest new clothes!

6. Another Panhell favorite has to be the Iron Horse, especially in the summer! The Iron Horse is the perfect picnic spot and also the best photo op!

7. Summer calls for ice cream and there’s no better way to enjoy ice cream or really any dessert than with your friends! Some of our favorites are Ben and Jerry’s, Alumni Cookie Dough, and Four Fat Cows.

8. Cool off and get creative at home! Slip n Slides have become a summer favorite among Panhellenic and they guarantee fun for all. The best part is that they are so easy and inexpensive to make. Perfect for a hot summer day!

9. Hikes are also a favorite activity of some of our members and there are so many good trails surrounding Athens. You are guaranteed to enjoy nature and find some beautiful views!

10. With music venues opening back up, concerts at the historic Georgia Theatre are soon to be back in full swing. You can’t go wrong with a summer concert at the Georgia Theatre! Make sure to grab your friends and enjoy good music together.
