Wing Bash

On September 27, Delta Zeta held its annual fall philanthropy event, Wing Bash! Wish Bash benefits the deaf and hard of hearing community globally and locally. Through the Turtle Grant, Delta Zeta supports children in the Athens-Clarke County area who are deaf and hard of hearing. We also donate annually to the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

As one of UGA’s most popular philanthropy events, students and local Athens residents come to the DZ house, lining the sidewalk for “all you can eat” wings along with other great southern sides, cake and live music from local artists. Not only do people wait for wings, but some also participate in the wing-eating contest. The contest is for whoever can eat twenty hot wings the fastest, with all proceeds benefiting our philanthropy. This event is a wonderful time to enjoy friends and some great food!

Philanthropy Chair Lindsay Leiner says, “My favorite part about Wing Bash is that UGA students come together on our lawn for a meal in hopes to raise awareness and money for those who are deaf and hard of hearing in the local Athens community and around the world. Although we participate in service opportunities throughout the year, this event is one night where Delta Zeta as a whole works together to support a worthy cause we are all so passionate about”. Without Lindsay’s leadership, organization, and passion for our philanthropy, Wing Bash would not be what it is! So, thank you for all of your hard work, Lindsay! Last year, Delta Zeta raised $5,500 for their philanthropy, and they are currently calculating this year’s donation as well!
