Home in Greek Life
Coming to University of Georgia from New Jersey, I was extremely nervous. I had decided not to rush originally because in the North I felt as though Greek Life had not been a big deal and wasn’t that important. When I came to Georgia though, I instantly regretted my decision and wished that I had rushed as I saw all my new friends having such great experiences through their sororities. When Alpha Phi was mentioned to me, I became very excited that I too could have the chance to experience being a new member of a sorority my freshman year. Because of Alpha Phi, I have some of my best friends who I love dearly. I have not regretted accepting my bid once and am thankful for all that Alpha Phi has given me.
Being a founding member of a sorority comes with many perks, one of them being that there are countless opportunities to have a leadership position. When applying for different positions, I was intrigued by Panhellenic Council, as I thought it would be really cool to get to know girls in different sororities. I also liked the idea of being able to represent my new sisterhood to the rest of Greek Life here at University of Georgia. Since joining Panhellenic as my chapter’s assistant delegate, I have been given the opportunity to become a part of the community service committee which I am extremely excited about. I have a passion for helping others and all my life have volunteered. Having another outlet to be able to serve the Athens community gives me so much joy. Overall, joining Greek Life has given my college adventure (so far ☺) a fun and rewarding experience and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
