The Most Wonderful Time of The Year

Among her studies and other campus involvement, Sophomore Theta Abby Jessen devotes much of her time to UGA organization Shop with a Bulldog (known as SWAB). Abby is the organization’s Executive Director for the 2015 year. SWAB’s mission is to bring joy to children and hope to families during the holiday season in Athens. Every year, groups host a main event in December in which about 1,000 UGA students pair up with about 500 Athens Clarke-Country elementary school kids and go shopping for the holidays. This gives these kids an opportunity to celebrate Christmas in a way they otherwise wouldn’t have had. Abby says that she got involved freshman year and loved it because “it helped me get out of the campus bubble and I could see the direct impact on the community”. Last year, Abby was the Event Planning Chair before acquiring her role as Executive Director this year. Abby is an amazing addition to the chapter and an extremely valuable Director in such a fantastic campus organization!
