Deal or No Deal
For Delta Gamma’s Jackie Gardner, working in the Georgia Governor's Office can be described as “a complete honor and surprisingly humbling opportunity.” The rising junior applied to the Governor's Internship Program on a whim, thinking the opportunity would be a long shot. Five months and several interviews later, she finds herself sitting at a front desk, answering calls for Governor Nathan Deal himself. “The office is nothing like I expected,” Jackie said. “Everyone working there is young and genuinely passionate about their careers. Most of the interns are from UGA, so we get to bond over class schedules and favorite professors, and almost all the girls are involved in the Panhellenic community.” In her position, she gets to answer phone calls and letters from the public and help them with any issue the governor has the purview to address. “I've already learned more about our state and its policies in one month than I have in my entire academic career. The office opens up an unprecedented amount of opportunities with networking, other internships, and even future career paths.” Delta Gamma is so proud of Jackie and the way she represents the strong Greek women who call UGA home. We can’t wait to see the exciting future that Jackie has ahead of her!
