Athens Businesses Owned By UGA Alum!
Abby Smith, a member of Alpha Chi Omega, shares all about some Athens businesses owned by UGA alumni:
There’s no denying that Athens is a special city, full of vibrancy and life. Part of what makes Athens so incredible is the influence that UGA alumni have had on the city.
Several businesses in Athens have been founded by UGA Alumni- which is super inspiring! Ever since I can imagine, I have dreamed of owning my own business, so I love getting to see and support the incredible businesses that UGA Alumni have started.
Some of my personal favorite UGA Alumni owned businesses in Athens include:
Avid Bookstore
Avid Bookshop, started by Janet Geddis (MED ’06), is an independent, community-focused bookstore with two locations in Athens. Avid aims to be a safe space for locals, while standing up for human rights, equality and the freedom to read. If you ever have some time on a Sunday afternoon, walking through Avid Bookstore is a known cure for the Sunday scaries.

Cheeky Peach
Cheeky Peach is owned and operated by Katie Jacobs (ABJ ’05) and Jason Jacobs (BS ’10). It’s a boutique downtown with the goal of creating a shopping experience that makes customers feel good about themselves. Cheeky Peach’s style is fearless, authentic and fashion-forward! It’s my favorite place to go when I’m searching for a new fun piece or just in need of some closet inspiration.

Condor Chocolates
Nothing tastes quite as good as a brownie sundae from Condor Chocolates after a walk down Milledge! Brothers Nick and Peter Dale, born, raised and educated in Athens, own and operate Condor Chocolates. They produce and sell bean-to-bar chocolate bars, truffles, sipping chocolate, hot cocoa, coffee, iced beverages, gelato and a variety of confections.

Next time you’re looking for something fun to do in Athens, I encourage you to support the alumni entrepreneurs behind these successful businesses!
